Sharks, manatees, fish and sea turtles have been amazing visitors at Mote Aquarium since 1980. The Aquarium is unique because it features the extraordinary sea life found off Florida's coast and showcases Mote Marine Laboratory's marine-science research. There are many wonderful exhibits featuring these sea creatures. You can also learn about sea turtle conservation and research at Mote's sea turtle exhibit.
Research is at the heart of Mote Marine Laboratory and Aquarium. Mote scientists are currently working on projects around the world, ranging from unraveling the secrets of red tide to cancer in sharks. Rescued whales, dolphins and sea turtles are nursed back to health at Mote's Dolphin and Whale Hospital. Mote scientists also work to understand the effects of human impact upon the fragile marine ecosystem.
For more information, call 941-388-2451 or 800-691-MOTE. You can also visit Mote Aquarium online at www.mote.org.
